Hip Pain
The hip is the one of the most mobile joints in the body, able to move in more directions than any other joint except the shoulder. It is responsible for all weight bearing activities such as walking, running and jumping, and is acted upon by the strong muscles of the pelvis and leg. Injuries to the structures of the hip joint can cause significant pain and disability. These injuries can be caused by falls, knocks or even from overuse.
Hip injuries are one of the more common conditions seen in runners, soccer and rugby players and those who sit for extended periods. While painkillers can provide temporary relief, a full assessment of the hip joint and surrounding musculature by a Sports Chiropractor and Sports Podiatrist is required to identify the extent of the damage to the injured structures. Chiropractic and podiatric care can alleviate the underlying cause of the injury using mobilisations, adjustments and muscle release techniques and orthotic therapy to reduce disability and increase mobility to offer hip pain relief.
